1. Вивчаємо нові вирази

At first blush - на перший погляд
English meaning - when you first see or experience something
Синонімічні вирази - at first glance/thought/consideration.
 Приклад використання:
The gift that you gave me looks at first blush like a new IPhone! Is this for real?
Твій подарунок на перший погляд виглядає як новенький айфон! Невже це правда він?
 to blush означає "почервоніти", проте раніше у цього дієслова було інше значення - "дивитися". Тепер стає зрозуміло, чому вираз такий, який є

2. А скільки нових слів ви можете скласти з UNPRECEDENTED?

Беріть літери з цього слова та робіть з них інші англійські слова.

unprecedented перекладається як "непередбачуваний, безпрецедентний", як раз так характеризують минулий 2020 рік. Сподіваюся, що це слово не про 2021)

3. Warm up . Answer the questions:

1. Daedalus was a brilliant architect who constructed a huge labyrinth. But King Minos closed both him and his son Icarus to the labyrinth to the end of their days. Though Daedalus knew its secrets, it was challenging to think up the plan of escape. Daedalus made two pairs of huge wings. The wings were made from hundreds of feathers. “We need some wax now”, Daedalus said. “Why do we need wax?” Icarus wondered. “To held feathers together”, Daedalus answered. “However, there is one thing you must not forget. If it gets too hot, the wax will melt and the wings will fall apart. Be careful”. When they were gliding across the sky, Icarus yelled to the sky around him “We’re free!” and flew to the sun. Daedalus tried to save his son and screamed “Icarus, not too close to the sun!” But the boy soared up nearer and nearer to the sun. The wax melted, Icarus fell into the sea and drowned. The flight of Daedalus and Icarus was the first time that man managed to fight the laws of nature and beat gravity.

2. Leonardo da Vinci was a genius painter, architect and inventor. Today he is best known for his art, including Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Vinci believed art was connected with science and nature. Da Vinci seemed excited by the possibility of people soaring like birds. The combination of intellect and imagination allowed him to create some flying machines based on different principles. Their descriptions were found in his notes. One of his machines had two huge wings and pedals that allowed a pilot to launch. Leonardo realized the flying machine might fly but unfortunately couldn’t move in reverse. He planned to launch his machine from the top of Monte Ceceri near Florence but it never happened.

3. On December 17, 1903, Orville Wright piloted the first powered airplane “Flyer” 20 feet above a beach in North Carolina. The flight piloting by Orville lasted 12 seconds. Three more flights were made that day with his brother Wilbur, and when Wilbur made the record flight which lasted 59 seconds, Orville exclaimed “Well done!” The brothers began their experimentation in flight in 1896 at their shop in Dayton, Ohio. They sold bicycles because there were few cars, and horses, they thought, were too slow. When Wilbur and Orville were kids their father gave them a toy helicopter. This was the start of their interest in flying. Later they were interested in Otto Lilienthal’s experiments in flying and watching birds. So, the Wright Brothers stared to study the works of flight. In 1902 they came to the beach with their first glider and made more than 700 successful flights. The next step was to move to powered flight. No automobile engine could be both light enough and powerful enough for their needs. So they designed and built their one, made a propeller, added transmission and a set of wings. All of their hard work came that December day as they took to the sky, which forever changed the course of history. The brothers were glad the local magazine made mention of the event.

Hello everyone!

Нарешті! Майже всі контрольні виконано - добре, що встигли це зробити offline; залишилася одна - контрольне говоріння. І вже 21-22 грудня я маю виставити вам семестрове оцінювання. Завдання ви отримали на уроках у школі - підготувати усну розповідь (9-10 речень) на одну з тем: 1. Teen Generation ;  2. Career Choices;    3. The Role of Mass Media in Our Life.

So бажано це зробити якнайшвидше, deadline -18.00 21 грудня.

2. Уважно ознайомся з граматичним матеріалом "The gerund - Герундій" на с.13 . Запам'ятай дієслова та  фрази, після яких вживається герундій. Сьогодні ви їх будете вживати для того, щоб розповісти про свої уподобання та уподобання інших.

3.Reading. Do ex. 3, p.14. Усно. Встав у речення ім'я знайомої тобі людини, про яку йдеться у реченні. Прочитай.

4. Writing. 1) Do ex. 4, p.14 - склади речення про себе, користуйся виразами з таблички

2) Do ex. 6, p.14 - перепиши речення, встав герундій, утворивши його від дієслова у таблиці

5. Listening. Прослухай діалог з Впр.1, с.15-16. Встав коротку відповідь з таблички праворуч на с.15 (олівцем). Прослухай ще раз і перевір свої відповіді. Подзвони однокласнику(ці) та прочитайте діалог разом. Аудіо до Впр.1 с.15
